| | This has been on my heart for a few days and I finally got around to writing it. I am NOT a poetry genius, nor do I have a 'knack' for it. But I did pen this and I'm quite happy with it. Any comments would be most appreciated.
HOW COULD YOU BEAR IT?
How could You, back in the days of Eden, bear to watch them share the forbidden fruit.
How could You endure the sorrow of searching the garden, when You alread knew where they were hidden.
They've sinned, oh Lord. Your beloved children, Your delight, have disobeyed the one command you ever gave them. And now they must be punished.
How could You speak when they cowered in fear, fear of You. The One who gave them everything and never caused them harm. "All of that," You say, Your heart broken. "All of that must change."
How could You force from Your lips curses of hardship and heavy labor, of intense pain and suffering.
How could You watch as their heads hang in utter shame and guilt for their sin. As you watch them turn from their perfect home, the home You made.
That wonderfully deep fellowship with you, the Almighty, would never be known again. So was the entrance of sin and the beginning of Your sorrow.
How could You, oh God, How could You bear it? |
