I am NOT a poetry genius, nor do I have a 'knack' for it. But I did pen this and I'm quite happy with it. Any comments would be most appreciated.

HOW COULD YOU BEAR IT?

How could You,
back in the days of Eden,
bear to watch them share
the forbidden fruit.

How could You
endure the sorrow of
searching the garden,
when You alread knew
where they were hidden.

They've sinned, oh Lord.
Your beloved children, Your delight,
have disobeyed the one command
you ever gave them. And now they
must be punished.

How could You
speak when they cowered in fear,
fear of You. The One who gave
them everything and never caused
them harm. "All of that," You say,
Your heart broken. "All of that
must change."

How could You
force from Your lips curses
of hardship and heavy labor,
of intense pain and suffering.

How could You
watch as their heads hang in
utter shame and guilt for their sin.
As you watch them turn from their
perfect home, the home You made.

That wonderfully deep fellowship
with you, the Almighty, would never
be known again. So was the entrance
of sin and the beginning of Your sorrow.

How could You, oh God,
How could You bear it?

Rock the Vote for Spunky

I know this is so late but I had to post it. Read the letter below and go do what it says. EVERY VOTE COUNTS!!

Dear friends,
This note is important, and applies directly to you. Please read it carefully.

In the "blogosphere" (the world of online blogs) there has always been a battle between the secular blogs driving people to humanistic philosophies, and the Christian blogs, inspiring people to Christian ideals. This battle has sometimes even been intense, but never so intense as it is now, in the 2006 Weblog Awards. These awards are given to blogs who are ranked the best out of a collection of finalists, by their readers. This is a kind of Oscar for blogs. Blogs with a Weblog Award earn a certain level of respect with other bloggers - even secular ones.

This year the Weblog Award for the Most Educational Blog on the Web has come down to an intense battle between the blog of a purely secular college professor, and the blog of a purely Christian homeschooling mother. There are many news articles scattered all over the web focusing on this issue, watching it to see how strong Christians are, and how well we support each other. Right now the nomination is completely neck-to-neck, with the secularist leading the home schooler by 4 points. This is where you come in!

At 11:59 pm tonight, (Friday the 15th), the Weblog Award polls are going to close. Each computer may only vote once within a 24 hour period of time, so you can only vote as many times as you have computers. Please visit the poll at http://2006.weblogawards.org/2006/12/best_educational_blog.php and cast your vote for SpunkyHomeSchool, the fifth down on the list of nominees.

God Bless,
I'm still alive!

Hey, just a quickie post to let you know I'm still alive!

I plan on starting a series on Modesty after The Rebelution's Modesty Survey (see post below) kicks off. I'm very excited about that and I can't wait for it to start. I think it will be a real eye-opener to us girls as we may not always know how our clothing affects them.

I HIGHLY reccomend that you volunteer your time and resources to helping this go along faster. I am currently helping in the Illustrations/Defintions Wing that will help explain what some of the articles of clothing are to the guys as they are not always sure what a semi-sheer sleeve or a camisole is, but who can blame them?

Anyways, I'll 'talk' to y'all later.

God Bless!
Kristin
Modesty Survey - The Rebelution

Join other Christian young men and women in TheRebelution.com's new and exciting project: The Modesty Survey. The Modesty Survey allows any girl to submit anonymous, modesty-related questions to Christian guys and to receive (multiple) anonymous replies. It’s the discussion you’ve always wanted to have.

GIRLS: How To Submit Your Questions

If you are a girl and would like to submit your question(s) for inclusion in the survey, please email them to our Female Survey Coordinator, Katrina Rowe: jesusfreakatrina[at]yahoo[dot]com. They must be received by Friday, December 15th, to be considered for inclusion in the survey.
You really may submit any question provided that it relates to the topic of modesty. Through the the forum we have already received over one hundred questions ranging from glitter lotion and painted nails to swimsuits and skirt slits.
While not necessary, we also recommend that you register on the forum and join The Attic, our Girls Only area. This will allow you to be directly involved in any discussions which take place in the process of conducting the survey.

GUYS: How To Get Involved

If you are guy and would like to help respond to the girl’s questions please begin by signing up for the the forum and joining our Guys Only area: The Garage. The Garage will serve as “brainstorm central” for the male side of The Modesty Survey.
This is an opportunity for you to serve your sisters in Christ. Many girls are without fathers or brothers to advise them in this area. They need input from godly men regarding what is appropriate and what is not. It is not unlikely that this survey will go on to be widely read and carefully referenced.
On the other hand, as Christian young men in a highly sexualized society, this is an opportunity for us to educate Christian women regarding our inner-battle so that they won’t unwittingly contribute to our struggle. If you have ever wanted to tell a girl to go put on a sweater, this is your chance to do so — anonymously.

Help Make It Happen
(1) Please help us spread the word about The Modesty Survey. Feel free to tweak this post and republish it on your own blog or send it as an email to any friends who you think would be interested in participating. Also, you can place a snazzy sidebar ad on your website or blog.
(2) Volunteer your tech skills! If you have experience setting up online survey/polling software we would appreciate your experience as we develop an efficient and uniform system for answering the submitted questions.

I FINISHED!!!

Today, November 21, I finished reading through my whole Bible. IN THIRTY DAYS!!! I'm am so glad I finished on time and just that I was able to finish at all!

My Mom and Dad surprised me yesterday when they went to Mardel while we were at 4-H and bought me a parallel KJV NKJV bible with my name on it and a beautiful red case to go with it for finishing. It was a wonderful surprise!

The schedule I followed was taken from Heidi's site. I'm copying it here as she has taken all of her previous posts off the public for a yet-to-be- determined time. I pray that she's doing well.

(I have plans for doing this again later with a few revisions of my own.)

DAY 1: Genesis 1-40

DAY 2: Genesis 41-50 (end), Exodus 1-27

DAY 3: Exodus 27-40 (end), Leviticus 1-22

DAY 4: Leviticus 23-27 (end), Numbers 1-26

DAY 5: Numbers 27-36 (end), Deuteronomy 1-28

DAY 6: Deuteronomy 29-34 (end), Joshua, Judges 1-6

DAY 7: Judges 7-21 (end), Ruth, 1 Samuel 1-18

DAY 8: 1 Samuel 19-31 (end), 2 Samuel

DAY 9: 1 & 2 Kings 1-7

DAY 10: 2 Kings 8-25 (end), 1 Chronicles 1-17

DAY 11: 1 Chronicles 18-29 (end), 2 Chronicles

DAY 12: Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther

DAY 13: Job, Psalms 1-15

DAY 14: Psalms 16-78

DAY 15: Psalms 79-142

DAY 16: Psalms 143-150 (end), Proverbs, Ecclesiastes

DAY 17: Song of Solomon, Isaiah 1-37

DAY 18: Isaiah 38-66 (end), Jeremiah 1-6

DAY 19: Jeremiah 7-41

DAY 20: Jeremiah 42-52 (end), Lamentations, Ezekiel 1-17

DAY 21: Ezekiel 18-48 (end)

DAY 22: Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah

DAY 23: Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggia, Zechariah, Malachi

DAY 24: Matthew

DAY 25: Mark, Luke 1-12

DAY 26: Luke 13-24 (end), John

DAY 27: Acts

DAY 28: Romans, 1 & 2 Corinthians, Galations

DAY 29: Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1&2 Thesalonians, 1&2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, Hebrews, James

DAY 30: 1 & 2 Peter, 1,2 & 3 John, Jude, Revelation

Almost Finished...

I am almost done with reading the Thirty Day Feast! I will be reading through Acts tommorow. I'm so excited! I was starting to get a little discouraged towards the end of the Old Testament and it feels as if the devil has been against me doing this from the beginning.

Now even more so, since I'm so close to finishing and I can't fall behind or I may not finish in time. I have babysitting tommorow morning (She's picking me up at 7:00 AM! AAAH! That time does not exist on my clock!) and I have 4-H rifle shooting in the afternoon so finding time to read my Bible is going to be pretty tricky.

I would appreciate any prayers that I will be able to finish on time. (Nov 21) When I finish I'll share the schedule I followed from Heidi.

God bless y'all!
Regenerate Our Culture

Yesterday I was accepted as a proofreader for the Regenerate Our Culture webzine. I can't tell you how excited/nervous/happy I am to be able to help with this wonderful ministry. To be able to see this magazine get put together is very exciting and I look forward to when I can have my turn to help.

The Faith of a Child

It's amazing how one can be encouraged by a few four-year-old kids. My church has a children's program called Truth Trackers and I was helping with the Tiny Trackers last night.

I'm just amazed at how these little ones can memorize verses and pray just like the older kids do. I think of what Jesus had said to the disciples. "Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God." (Mark 10:4)

I pray that we will never allow ourselves to think that a four-year-old is too young to understand or to little to know what we're talking about. We really don't give them enough credit. They are wonderful examples to us of how believers should be.

Little kids leave all their problems to thier parents and older siblings, whereas the parents and older siblings dwell on them and get anxious about them. When we really should be letting Christ worry about it.

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God."
Phil 4:6
Caught up!

Whew! I hadn't realized it was going to be so difficult to read the bible in thirty days. I've been going strong for a whole week now and I just missed my first day.
During my sister's birthday, to my shame, I didn't crack open my bible at all. I paid dearly for it the next day in having to read both sections in one day. Ouch!
But I was able to catch myself up and am now back on schedule. Thankfully!

On a more personal note, I'm applying for a proofreading job for the Regenerate Our Culture webzine. I was ecstatic to know that I made the first cut and moved on to a final round. So, Lord-willing, I'll get this position and be able to help with this wonderful magazine and people.
